Note of Evidence.

Thomas Henry Martin -Superintendent of the Registration &

Parcel Branch General Post Office. On the 11th October

between 4'40 and 5 P.H. I was in the General Post Office

It was a Bunday, In consequence of certain informa—

tion I went into the Registration Branch, it is difided

off from the General Post Office and the Counter by

strong iron wicket gates and grilles. The door lead-

ing to the Registration Branch from the Registration

counter was open.

That door should have been shut at

that hour on Sunday. There were two keys of the gate,

one kept by Mr. Remedios and the other by the Sunday

duty officer on that date. I went inside and found

a tall Chinese cook boy with a small Portuguese boy.

They were standing by the small safe at the end of the

Registration Branch. The safe door was open. I asked

the small boy what he was doing to the safe. He said

his father had given him the keys of the outer door and

the safe as he wanted to get some money out of the safe.

I took the keys away from him, closed the safe, closed

the outer gate, and took the Chinese and the boy to the
